Dead Island Concept Art by Artur Sadlos

2011′s highly anticipated Dead Island featured one of the more original settings of a zombie apocalypse-esque game – a tropical paradise.  Artur Sadlos provided concept art for both the environments and characters of the game.  It’s an interesting mix; the decrepit, rotting zombies clash against the bright and colorful tropical scenery.

  1. Serves me right for drinking tea while looking at these images. *gurp!*

Those giant pus bubbles on those zombies are gross. I also have to wonder what kind of travel pamphlets this place has: “Come for the ancient architecture, the lush jungle, the lavish night life, and the zombies that will nom-nom your face off!”

The environments alone are almost worth playing for, and the combat is fun if not somewhat repetitive. I just wish the game was as epic as its famous trailer made it out to be.
